Merry Christmas!

What a difference a year makes! We are filled with gratitude for each one of you and thankful that you walk this journey of life with us.
Andrew surprised us all by proposing to Sarah just before Christmas last year. We eagerly awaited their Oct. 6 wedding in Atlanta, Georgia. It was beautiful – but hot – just a few degrees cooler than our beautiful  - but hot - wedding so long ago. It was a joy to witness their God-honoring ceremony and to welcome Sarah into our big, chaotic, and loud family. I think she is starting to understand us. She is freelancing in graphic design and looking for a job she can love in Kentucky. Andrew spent the Olympics in PyeongChang as a camera operator, resigned his position with the Kentucky governor’s media department this summer, and is now helping a Lexington firm start a production company.

Jesse and Megan were engaged in February and are planning a June 1 wedding. Megan is finishing up her student teaching in western PA and will graduate from Geneva College this month. Jesse graduated in the spring from Eastern University and is student teaching in the Souderton area while living with PopPop and MomMom. He and PopPop have worked on many projects together including a dining room table that Jesse gave to Megan as an early wedding gift. Searching for teaching jobs will be next.

Mariana is a junior at Marymount Manhattan and shares a typical NYC-sized apartment with three other women. She was cast in an MMC production during the fall semester and in another which will be rehearsed and performed in January. Over the summer she was hired as choreographer for a local theater camp. She often arrives home with a jar full of coins from busking in the subway stations.

Mary decided to move out after turning eighteen this summer. It is difficult to watch someone you love make such poor choices, knowing that they will greatly impact the future but we believe in the One who redeems and know that her story is far from over!

Shoun and Isaac are both seniors and finding the college search to be time-consuming. Shoun is looking to major in International Business and Isaac in music education and performance. Of all their college choices, they share only one in common so we shall see where they end up next year. Shoun currently works at Stauffer’s of Kissel Hill Home and Garden Store and Isaac teaches violin and viola lessons. Isaac is enjoying an internship at the end of each school day, with the middle school orchestra teacher and her students.

Eden and HopeAnne are both at the middle school this year, Eden in 8th grade and Hope in 6th. Eden found a love and passion for art in the past year and spends much of her time creating beautiful mixed media works. HopeAnne still enjoys running and crocheting. She has made the switch from homeschool to real school very well. Many of their creations can be found for sale on their Facebook page, King Creations.

And Victor. Victor is thriving in kindergarten where he is well-loved and has a great team working with him. He is beginning to read and write in Braille and uses his cane to maneuver the hallways at school. Victor discovered videos with descriptive narration this year and Cars and Sing are his favorites. His performance as ring bearer in Andrew and Sarah’s wedding went as well as could be expected.

John began full time with Liberty University’s online graduate counseling program in January and transitioned to part-time at the church. He loves teaching and has found ways to be connected to students despite the online format. He turned 50 in November and was surprised with a book and video, both filled with words of appreciation from friends and family he has impacted through the years.

I am still on sabbatical as John calls it, still trying to figure out what God wants me to do when I grow up. I enjoy intermittent writing, speaking, and teaching assignments, and our clients with Victorious Hope Adoption Consulting. I also look forward to volunteering in Victor’s classroom once a week. It almost makes me want to apply for a teaching position. Almost.

We pray that 2019 will find you loving well, hoping eternally, and trusting more. May you rest in the One who knows you best and loves you more, always serving others with the strength that comes only from above.

Merry Christmas 2018 and Abundant Wishes for a Joy-filled 2019!
